When an Answered Prayer Feels Like a Test

Here I was, in the midst of an answered prayer, and all my senses were screaming, “run, find a way out.”

I had prayed for this. It actually was the 1st time I had prayed for this particular issue, and God answered speedily in a way that the sign pointed to Him alone, and it was a wonder to those who heard the testimony. But then things started going not the way I planned. I could not serve God as I wanted to (so I thought). I had my own personal plans, but my heart was heavy. I was stressed and began to question everything.

The Moment I Didn’t Pray

Then one of those nights, as I sat to meditate, I heard a voice:
“Have you asked me to help you?”

And I answered back, saying “no.”

I actually had not taken this to God because I assumed I knew what to do, which was “RUN.”

So then I asked God for forgiveness and prayed for direction. The next morning I woke up, and boom, it’s like light broke out. I saw what was causing the problem, but yet my mind was still screaming, “RUN.” I didn’t take it back to God to ask how I could fix this. I was not completely surrendering to the process and what God was trying to teach me.

When Options Become Distractions

As time passed, distractions came that would shift my attention. Then I was in full-blown warfare. I was about to lose my answered prayer, and my spirit became uneasy.

In my “And Eunice inquired of the Lord” moment, I asked God:

Should I run?
And if I do, where I intend to go, is it the right place?
Or should I stay?
And if I do stay, can you show me how I will overcome this?

A very simple prayer, yet powerful.  And just like that, God began to show me things.

Changed My Perspective

A question popped up within me:

“When your recipe fails in the midst of making a dish you so much desired to make, do you just abandon it and move on to the next recipe, or do you try to fix it or go at it again till you get your desired results?”

Then i heard the words resounding so clear within me “Don’t miss your Rehoboth.”

Genesis 26:19–22 (NKJV):

In that moment, I saw:

• Where I went wrong
• How He could help me turn things around
• And most importantly, where He wanted me to be

My peace returned.

But I had to do the work.
I had to go through the process.

What Stayed With Me

1. Don’t Stop What Got You the Answer

The fact that you got your answer does not mean you need to stop doing the things you did that brought you your answer.

Instead, you need to re-strategize and mount more pressure to sustain it.

Why?
Because each level has its own warfare attached to it.

2. Not Every Situation Requires You to Run

Not every situation that has resistance or conflict requires you to “RUN.”

I used to be a very good runner.
I hate conflict till this very day.

But I have also learned that sometimes you need to stand and address the elephant in the room by:

• Praying
• Staying calm
• Looking at things in another light

3. Not Every Open Door Is Yours to Walk Through

Not every open door requires you to walk through it.

For some, you will need to:

• Enter the room and see what’s behind it
• Walk past the door
• Or even shut the door

4. God Gives Good Gifts

God does not give and take back, nor does He give bad gifts to His children.

James 1:17 KJV
“Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Matthew 7:11 KJV
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?”

Final Reflection

We sometimes are quick to walk away to the next thing when things are not moving the way we want them to or become a little uncomfortable.

You prayed for this.
So why not keep praying to keep it?

God opened that door because He has something there for you. Don’t rush and miss out on the end goal or before you hit your Rehoboth. If you faint in the face of trouble, then your strength was weak. You might find yourself repeating cycles until you learn what God is trying to teach you. Keep digging and pressing in.

The fact that that blessing is manifesting doesn’t mean that’s it. There’s more in it for you and your growth.

Just like David inquire of the Lord to know what exactly He is saying or trying to teach you.

It may just be a certain area of your character He is trying to help you get rid of…
Or building you to sustain what you desire.

Prayer

I pray over you that He who started a great work in you will bring it to his perfect end. Receive strength to fight a good warfare and stand your ground. The evil one will not snatch your answered prayer from your hand in the midst of its manifestation. I over you you that you will finish well. Your joy is made complete in Jesus’ name.
